Friends of the Malden River upcoming events

  The Friends of the Malden River (FoMR) monthly meetings fall on the second Monday of each Month via Zoom (April 10 from 6:30-7:45). Their next in-person meeting should happen in May! The Meeting will include updates:

  Cleanups with Tufts University/Tisch College of Civic Life/Athletic Teams

• Friday, April 7: 2 p.m.-4 p.m.; rowing and track combo.
• Saturday, April 8: after rowing event at 11 a.m.; swim team and Leonard Carmichael Society volunteers.
• Sunday, April 9: 2 p.m.-4 p.m.; rowing and track combo (for those not celebrating Easter).

  Earth Day with the City of Malden (two dates): Green Malden Faire: Saturday, April 15, 1-4 p.m. at Pine Banks Park– rain or shine – an environmental fair featuring activities, informational booths, paper shredding, Blue Bikes, Bike to the Sea Bike Kitchen demo, shrub seedling giveaway, and more!

  April 22: Malden River cleanup with National Grid Team – details to follow.

  Cleanups with Idle Hands Craft Ales: Idle Hands Craft Ales with FoMR and Run Club of Malden (with cheers afterwards): Meet at Idle Hands (89 Commercial St., Malden) at 9:30 a.m. Cleanups (Neighborhood and River) start at 10-noon. These will be promoted by Idle Hands.

• Sunday, May 14: Mother’s Earth Day Cleanup
• Saturday, July 29
• Saturday, September 9 – Oktoberfest!
• Saturday, October 21

  June 3, 2-5 p.m. at River’s Edge: Explore the Malden River with the Chinese Cultural Connection: Environmental Education for all ages sponsored by Malden River Works, FoMR and the Mystic River Watershed Association. A wonderful family event for everyone!

  And the grand finale for the spring of 2023! June 10: Malden’s PorchFest. Let’s represent the Malden River during the PorchFest! FoMR will be applying for a venue! Let’s gather ideas! We can make: Music, Spoken Word and Poetry, DJ/Dance! Be on the Malden River via canoes? This will be a fun commitment!
