Malden businesses receive COVID-19 relief funding

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

This year the City of Malden has provided 20 Malden businesses with funding relief to assist in combatting the hardships of the COVID-19 pandemic. Last year the City awarded grants to eight businesses. Malden businesses that are owned by a low- or moderate-income person and have no more than five employees are eligible. The City determined that these businesses were having a difficult time accessing state and federal business relief funds, so the City stepped up to fill in the gap. Grant awards were up to $10,000 per business.

The program is being administered by the Office of Strategic Planning and Community Development on behalf of Mayor Gary Christenson. Grants are paid using Community Development Block Grant funds secured through the federal CARES Act.

Applications for this round have closed. Businesses that are already on the waiting list will be contacted contingent on funding availability.
