Malden Fire Chief Bill Sullivan retires

Fire Chief Bill Sullivan Retires

Retiring Fire Chief Bill Sullivan spent a few minutes of his last day on the job with Mayor Gary Christenson, who thanked him for his 36 years of service to Malden. Chief Sullivan, who grew up in Malden, followed the career path of both his father, who served on the Fire Department from 1963-1995, and his grandfather, who served from 1917-1957. Chief Sullivan joined the Fire Department in 1987. He quickly moved up the ranks, being promoted to Lieutenant, Captain and Deputy Chief, and becoming Fire Chief in 2020. Following his retirement, Chief Sullivan will spend some time relaxing with his family.

“Bill has done an excellent job and I want to thank him for his dedicated service to our City, not only as Chief of the Department but throughout his entire career,” said Mayor Christenson.
