Malden Neighborhood Basketball League’s final weekend

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Saturday, March 12, 2022, at Ferryway

Game 1 – Sonics 0, Hawks 0: ended in a Double Forfeit due to no players showing up in the allotted time.

Game 2 – Pistons 2, Celtics 0: The Pistons got the win as the Celtics could not get enough players in time for the game.

Game 3 – Sixers 2, Lakers 0: The Sixers had 6, Lakers had 2; ’nuff said. The disappointments continue in 2022.

Game 4 – Bullets 92, Kings 19: We actually had a game on this fine Saturday; the proverbial definition of a blowout. The Boys in Blue came ready to play to close out this day – led by L. Guertin, dropping a game-high (26), followed by B. Biscan (17) and a pair of 16s by P. Louis, who dropped 14 in the 1st to get the Bullets off and running. C. Kilpatrick rounded it out. The defending Champions of 2019 did not look good from the start, albeit they traded off & lost some players early in the season. C. Ofoedu hit a couple 3’s in the 1st and actually led the team in this 6 vs 6 contest.

Game 1 – Pistons 60, Sonics 58: What a good game this was – very close throughout & the narrow victory locked the 2nd place spot for the Pistons. Sonics drop into a tie for 3rd/4th but still playoff qualified. The Sonics only played with four all game but they never quit. Two players scored 24 a piece – J. Dorceena & I. Normil – but they fell shy at the end. Pistons R. Spoto (17) & N. McGuffie (13) led their team to the Victory as they look forward to see who they play in six days.

Game 2 – Sixers 2, Celtics 0: Again the Green could not get a team to the gym on time (6 vs 3). The Sixers go undefeated and, obviously, take the #1 Seed into next week’s Madness.

Game 3 – Bullets 76, Lakers 29: Steve Wright’s “Day 1” Bullets put it to the Kings again in the weekend sweep as they ran away with this game from the jump.

Game 4 – Hawks 0, Lakers 0: Only one Laker showed up for this game, G. Germay, and that’s it – no Hawks. Sadly, both teams had to forfeit. Surprisingly the Lakers are still playoff bound but must play the Sonics to see who gets 3rd or 4th place in the standings ASAP this week. The Madness begins Saturday.
