MaldenArts invites members of the public on Wednesday, June 15th at 6 PM to the unveiling of the Malden COVID Memorial Park, a pocket park and mural honoring both those who lost their lives and those who helped residents through the pandemic.

The COVID Memorial Park includes two sculptures (a fish and a wave), two benches, and a mural of poetry and art from local residents. The pocket park is located at the Franklin Street crossing of the Northern Strand Community Trail and provides a special place to remember and honor all who were impacted by the pandemic.

MaldenArts is grateful to State Senator Jason Lewis who procured state funds for Phase 2 of the ARTLine, to former Malden City Councillor Debbie DeMaria who provided the inspiration for the COVID focus and additional funding for the sculptures, and to State Representative Paul Donato and Office of Strategic Planning & Community Development Director Deborah Burke who were instrumental in working with the MBTA regarding the site location.
