Musical lineup for June 4 Malden Summer Festival announced

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Temporary outdoor concert venue being created in Malden Center

The City of Malden is pleased to announce that this year’s Malden Summer Festivals have an amazing lineup of bands and other musical performers. To maximize the experience for festival-goers, the city is creating an outdoor venue downtown so attendees can enjoy an eclectic and dynamic array of performers.

  • Kicking off the festival at noon will be Grooversity, an innovative and creative drumming network project created by Brazilian percussionist Marcus Santos.
  • Following that, the Mark Cataldo Trio will kick off the main stage with a “gypsy” jazz performance.
  • Discompany, a dance band playing hits from the 70’s and 80’s, will delight with hits from disco, funk, pop and rock.
  • The Eric German Latin Sextet offers aggressive and swinging salsa music that is appealing to both the musicians and the dancers.
  • Closing the show that day will be Terry Borderline, a performer and recording artist ushering knowledge into the world through music – an experience not to be missed!

Brought to you by the office of Mayor Gary Christenson and the Malden Chamber of Commerce, the Summer Festivals will be taking place from 12-4 p.m. on June 4, July 16 and August 13. Along with the Farmers Market, Pleasant Street will be transformed into an open-air festival featuring live music, artists and artisans, circus performers, and much more!

Easily accessible by car, bus or subway – next to the MBTA Orange Line’s Malden Center Station – the restaurant-filled area is also home to Malden’s Gaming District. This is the place to go if you want to quest at Boda Borg, conduct a science experiment that is a lot like mini-golf, play and stock up on Magic cards, shoot some billiards, try a racing simulator or sing your heart out at Karaoke. Visit www.MaldenGamingDistrict.com for even more options. Free parking is available at both of the City’s garages: 170 Centre St. or 7 Jackson St.
