Zonta Club of Malden awards scholarships to four graduating MHS students

The Zonta Club of Malden recently awarded scholarships to four Malden High School students in a competitive selection process that prioritized academic achievement, leadership and commitment to community service. The scholarships were presented during a special ceremony and dinner at The Establishment that included Malden City Clerk Carol Ann Desiderio as the keynote speaker. In attendance were Mayor Gary Christenson, Zonta Club members, family members and other community leaders. The annual award ceremony is part of Zonta’s ongoing mission to support the education and advancement of young women and future community leaders. This year’s scholarship recipients are Fiona Youmell, attending the University of Miami; Vivian Chau, attending UMass Amherst; Erica Littlejohn, attending Gordon College; and Nour Howard, attending Tufts University.

The Zonta Club of Malden is part of Zonta International, a worldwide organization dedicated to building a better world for women and girls through advocacy, education and service. In addition to scholarship programs, the club participates in community service projects and initiatives that promote equality, education and opportunities for women and families throughout the Malden area.
