  A longtime resident of Malden, Charles passed away on Sunday, May 8th, after a brief illness.  Charles was born in Medford in 1930, the son of Charles and Zella Shiner.  He was raised and educated in Malden.  After completing his education, Charles enlisted in the US Army and fought with the 31st Infantry Division during the Korean War. Upon his honorable discharge, he returned to the Malden area, and soon married his sweetheart, Anna V. Giordano. The two settled down in Malden to raise their family.   Charles had worked as an auto mechanic for years, and loved working on engines and restoring old cars and also did some construction work.

  He is survived by his wife Anna, their daughter Rhonda A. McLeod and her husband Kevin A. McLeod of Londonderry, NH, their son Richard C. Shiner of Everett, MA, his grandchildren, Derek C. McLeod and wife Sandra, Brendan K. McLeod and wife Heather, as well as his In-Laws and many nieces and nephews.

  Charles was preceded in death by his brother Alfred Shiner and his sister Rita Whynot.

  Visitation for Charles will be held on Thursday May 12th from 4-8 at Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem St, Malden. Services will be held for Charles at the Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem St, Malden on Friday, May 13th, at 9AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Joseph’s Church at 10 AM. Interment to follow in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody MA. In lieu of flowers please donate to American Heart Association in Charles’ name at heart.org
