Catch Father Mike offering Mass in Florida

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Hi Jim:

I hope all is well with you. Recently, I was thinking about Father Mike Guarino. As you may recall, he was the Administrator of St. Anthony’s Church for about 10 years, and oversaw the merger of St. Theresa’s when the Archdiocese went through a very difficult consolidation. My family and I got to know him when he became the temporary Administrator of St. Mary’s when that parish was without a priest. He retired 11 years ago due to health concerns and relocated to Florida, which saddened many parishioners and members of the community. However, I recalled him mentioning at the time that he planned to remain involved with the Church on a limited basis.

When I searched online, I was able to track him down, and was pleasantly surprised to see him still active and officiating some Masses at a number of churches around Sarasota, Florida. Fortunately, one of those churches streams all of their Masses online and on YouTube. The streaming of Masses is perhaps the only blessing to come from the pandemic.

Since I’m sure there are many people who would be delighted to hear the news, and would like to see a Mass he officiates, I thought I would reach out to you to see if you could mention it in the paper. Since its Holy Week, I can’t think of a better time to do so.

Here’s the information: St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church. Their website is: stmichaelssiesta.com. They can also be found on YouTube by searching: “St. Michael the Archangel Siesta Key FL.” I understand he doesn’t have a set schedule, but as of today, the last Mass he officiated was from Palm Sunday at 8 AM, which is viewable anytime on YouTube.

Thanks, as always, for your thoughtful consideration.

  Happy Easter!

Sincerely,

Rob DeMattia
