At Monday night’s meeting, the City Council awarded a Certificate of Merit to Matthew DeLorenzo for his heroic efforts to save six families on Winthrop Avenue from a burning apartment building on July 23. At approximately 3 a.m., DeLorenzo called 911 and ran into the burning structure without regard for his own safety to alert the families of the fire and get everyone out.
