FY2023 Senior Work Off Abatement Program applications available starting July 1

Applications to be collected at Rossetti-Cowan Senior Center, deadline to apply: Aug. 1

  The applications for the FY2023 Senior Work Off Abatement Program are available starting Friday, July 1, 2022, and the deadline to apply is Monday, August 1 at 5:00 p.m. Applications will be collected and reviewed at the Rossetti-Cowan Senior Center at 25 Winthrop Ave in Revere. This program provides the opportunity for 50 seniors to work for a $750 property tax reduction and another 50 seniors to work for a $500 water bill credit.

  “We are so excited to welcome the seniors back for this year’s abatement program,” said Director of Elder Services Deb Peczka. “My staff will be available during Senior Center hours to collect your applications and guide you through the process, so please reach out if you have any questions.”

  In order to qualify, Revere residents must be at least 60 years of age, an assessed owner of their property and have an income lower than $83,986 for individual applicants or $102,650 for married applicants. Applicants must provide proof of age through a birth certificate, copy of driver’s license, or passport. They must also provide proof of income (current 2021 income tax returns, social security statement, etc.) and a proof of residency (e.g., utility bill, cell phone bill). The tax abatement received under this program may be in addition to any other property tax exemptions for which the senior is eligible.

  A public lottery will be conducted on August 31, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. in the Revere City Council Chambers. Those working for the tax abatement can complete their hours from September 15- November 15. Those working for the water abatement can complete their hours from January 2-March 3.
