Revere student named finalist for Jamie Hurley Theatre Arts Scholarship

Special to The Advocate

Bishop Fenwick student Stephen Colwell, who is from Revere, was recently named a finalist for the Jamie Hulley Theatre Arts Scholarship. This was a huge honor for Senior Stephen, who is Class President and President of the Drama Club at Bishop Fenwick.

Description for finalist: Being named a finalist for the Jamie Hulley Theatre Arts Scholarship at the Stephen Sondheim Awards means you were selected as one of the top students under consideration for the scholarship after the application and review process. Finalists are typically recognized for the following:

  • Excellence in theatre performance
  • Leadership and involvement in their school/community
  • Character, kindness and encouragement of others
  • Passion for the performing arts and future potential

Because the scholarship is tied closely to the mission of the Jamie Hulley Arts Foundation, being a finalist is already considered a major honor. It means the judges and foundation members believed you strongly represented the values Jamie Hulley stood for — not just talent, but heart and positivity within the theatre community.
