Police charged a 64-year-old Saugus man in connection with the killing of his housemate. Police responded to an emergency 911 call at 315 Essex St. last Friday (July 7) shortly after 6:30 a.m. reporting a death. Soon after their arrival, police arrested George Finley, 64, for the alleged murder of his housemate, Joshua Thomson, 37.
Investigators have released few details in the case, which is being investigated by state police detectives assigned to Essex County District Attorney Paul F. Tucker’s office and Saugus police detectives. Police say Finely and Thomson shared the home.
Finley has pleaded not guilty and was being held in jail without bail. A probable cause hearing has been set for Sept. 12 at Lynn District Court.
This is the first homicide reported in Saugus in more than 18 months. Police investigated two murders in late 2021.
