William Stewart announced re-election to Saugus Housing Authority

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

After graduating from Saugus High School, I was accepted into the General Electric Apprentice Program at GE in Lynn. The program consisted of working days in the shop and going to the Lincoln Institute at MIT in Cambridge evenings. After graduating from the GE program, where I had been exempted from the draft, rather than be drafted I enlisted. I had completed three years in the Massachusetts National Guard starting in high school. I became a Morse Code Intercept Operator in the US Army, serving two years in Chitose, Japan on the northernmost island of Hokkaido, which is twelve miles from a Russian military post. After service, I returned to GE and became a computer analyst. During this time, I attended Boston University evenings and graduated with a BS in engineering and a Master’s Degree. I eventually became a consultant to various companies to install or update their computer systems. During these years I managed a Little League team then a Babe Ruth League team in Saugus. After managing I became an umpire for high school baseball and softball. I have served the Town of Saugus for decades as a Town Meeting member for Precinct Three in East Saugus, and also served a term on the School Committee.

Four years ago, I was reelected to the Saugus Housing Authority and have served as Chairman off and on. I have worked closely with the Director improving the operation. Among the changes I have assisted in are the purchase of washing machines and driers for usage of the tenants and updating of the roadways and parking areas. I ask for your vote to continue serving the people of Saugus and the residents of the Saugus Housing Authority.
